Dubuque Lacrosse Club

A New Era of Lacrosse in Dubuque – Spring 2025

For the first time, Dubuque will have a lacrosse program built for the community- not just for travel. While past options required long drives just to field teams against regional opponents, the new Dubuque Lacrosse Club structure brings the game home, introducing lacrosse to boys and girls of all ages and skill levels with a focus on local play, real development, and fun.

Our goal is simple: to make lacrosse a normal part of the youth sports experience, just like basketball, football, baseball, or soccer. We are building distinct local teams that align with the number of high schools in our communities – three separate teams under the Dubuque Lacrosse Club banner (Dubuque North, Dubuque South, Dubuque Central) for Dubuque’s three secondary institutions, one team for the Western Dubuque district, one for Platteville, and more – so kids can compete close to home with the same hometown pride and rivalries that define every other sport.

We follow USA Lacrosse’s best practices with smaller roster sizes and age-appropriate rules to make team formation and learning the game more accessible. Local play is our foundation. For families who want additional competition, Dubuque Lacrosse Club United will offer a travel option that combines players from across the local teams to compete regionally. By building strong, local programs first, then layering in travel opportunities second, we’re creating one of the strongest lacrosse communities in Iowa – where every kid has a place to play, develop, and grow without having to leave home to do it.

Dubuque Lacrosse Club Teams

10U (Ages 7-10): New signups will be joining teams consisting of 5+ other players to join our Dubuque 10U League. The 10U League started in Spring 2025, is ongoing and welcoming additional families, and has multiple boys teams. This age group is focused on learning skills of the game, building excitement for the game, and an introduction to early gameplay.

12U (Ages 10-12): New signups will be joining teams consisting of 5+ other players to join our 12U House League. Much like the 10U League, we have centrally located practice and games in Dubuque already ongoing and continue to welcome new families. This age group is focused on learning and building on lacrosse skills with an emphasis on experience through gameplay.

Middle School (Ages 12-14): We are actively forming three Middle School teams, with local practices beginning once we reach 6 or more players. Formal team launches are planned for Spring 2026, with clinics starting this summer to build the roster early. Until then, players are welcome to join the Dubuque Lacrosse Club practices this spring season. Players interested in additional competition outside the area can also join the Dubuque Lacrosse Club United team next spring for regional jamboress.

High School (Ages 14-18): We are building three High School teams, with local practices starting once 6 or more players are rostered. Our first official season is targeted for Spring 2026, and we’ll be running clinics this summer to grow the roster. High school players are also eligible for the Dubuque Lacrosse Club United team to compete against metro-area programs.
