Platteville Lacrosse Club

A New Era of Lacrosse in Southwest Wisconsin

For the first time, Southwest Wisconsin will have a lacrosse program built for the community. Our new program brings the game home, introducing lacrosse to boys and girls of all ages and skill levels with a focus on local play, real development, and fun.

Our goal is simple: to make lacrosse a normal part of the youth sports experience, just like basketball, football, baseball, or soccer. We are building distinct local teams that align with the number of high schools in our communities – three teams for Dubuque’s three secondary institutions, one team for the Western Dubuque area, one for Platteville, and more – so kids can compete close to home with the same hometown pride and rivalries that define every other sport.

We follow USA Lacrosse’s best practices with smaller roster sizes and age-appropriate rules to make team formation and learning the game more accessible. Local play is our foundation. For families who want additional competition beyond Platteville Lacrosse Club, we will offer both a boys regional team and girls regional team travel options that combines players from across the local teams to compete regionally. By building strong, local programs first, then layering in travel opportunities second, we’re creating one of the strongest lacrosse communities in Iowa – where every kid has a place to play, develop, and grow without having to leave home to do it.

Platteville Lacrosse Club Teams

10U & 12U Non Contact (Ages 7-10): The 10U League started in Spring 2025, is ongoing and welcoming additional families, and for this season will be equipment free with no contact to give an easy introduction to the game of lacrosse. This age group is focused on learning fundamental skills, building excitement for the game, and an introduction to early gameplay.

12U Boys (Ages 9-12): We have multiple boys teams competing in the foundation of our tri-state conference with centrally located shared practices and games in Dubuque already established. We continue to welcome new families who wish to learn the game using full equipment and age-appropriate rule variations. This age group is focused on learning and building on lacrosse skills with an emphasis on experience through gameplay.

Middle School Boys & Girls (Ages 12-14): We are actively forming three Middle School teams, with local practices beginning once we reach 6 or more players. Formal team launches are planned for Spring 2026, with clinics used to build the roster early. Until then, players are welcome to join the Dubuque Lacrosse Club practices this spring season. Players interested in additional competition outside the area can also join one of our regional teams for jamborees against other regional squads.

High School Girls (Ages 14-18): Starting this spring we are beginning to build High School programs, with local practices starting once 6 or more players are rostered. Our first official first season with this group will be Spring 2026 in Dubuque, and we’ll be running clinics throughout the year to add more players.
